This exhibit marks the 40th anniversary of Kalliope, FSCJ’s premier journal of women’s art and literature (in publication from 1979 to 2008). The journal, named after the Greek Muse of epic poetry, showcased verse, prose, visual art and interviews with prominent artists and writers. “Musing Women” includes former contributors to Kalliope as well as other women artists practicing in the Northeast Florida region. Visitors will also be able to see related historical materials from the FSCJ archives including journal covers, posters, and video of Kalliope events.
Participating artists include Dimelza Broche, Louise Freshman Brown, Jillian Marie Browning, Bharati Chaudhuri, Sarah Crooks, Toni DeWitt, Nofa Dixon, Diane Farris, Amy Freeman, Sheila Goloborotko, Marsha Hatcher, Christie Holechek, Ana Kamiar, Erin Kendrick, Jan Tomlinson Master, Carol Prusa, Theresa Segal, Nancy Hamlin Vogler, Allison Watson and Marisa Yow.
